bath fantasy...

topic posted Tue, January 25, 2005 - 1:17 PM by  Jeremy
I want a big tub on a pedestal... in the center of a room... with a giant domed glass ceiling... so I can light candles on a clear night and sink into bubbles while I watch the stars and moon go by...

the tub should have a heater so that it never gets cold...

a rose spritzer...

cocteau twins on the stereo...

warm soapy bliss...

someday...

That is such a beautiful bath fantasy. I couldn't have stated it more eloquently if I tried. :)

Sometimes (though definitely not always) the addition of another person can be nice, if its the right person.

That sounds lovely. I'd add a fireplace, I think, and maybe someone to bring me fresh drinks as I need them. I'd lie back and alternate between watching the stars and reading a book. And I might add Sarah Brightman to my playlist.

Yes... Sarah is nice! Perhaps some sweet tea?

      *sigh*

I'm too big to fit in most bathtubs... so all I have are these idealistic fantasies...

      someday... someday...

I'm only 5' 3", and a regular bath isn't long enough to please me. I want something gigantic, big enough to lie flat and deep enough to float around in.

Sweet tea is nice, but I'd probably move on quickly to rich hot chocolate or a good sherry. If I'm going to be decadent I might as well go all out. ;)

You have the right attitude with your decadence!

I personally would go for stuff that's more refreshing... perhaps even a smidgen of fresh fruit... juicy melon chunks... something like that...

Man... I'm feeling all anxious now... this longing...

it's sad that the terms "bathroom" and "bathhouse" have such bad connotations...

Ah, for refreshing there's always Champagne. Champagne and a bowl of perfect strawberries would work nicely.

You know, I don't understand that bathroom/bathhouse thing. A room devoted to the bath is a wonderful thing!

champagne... of course... and strawberries... of course. you're good at this!

I guess the real point here is to pamper yourself... to treat yourself like Cleopatra... so whatever you like is appropriate...

              aaah... such luxury...

I haven't had a bath in so long... and all this fantasy is swelling the void inside of me!

              ----------------------------------------------

I was just saying that those terms are now associated with different activities... which have little to do with bathing...

You could take a mini vacation and check into a hotel that has large whirlpool baths. That would be a fantastic way to pamper yourself. And you could have room service afterward.

                  that's too obvious!

one night in heaven... I'm so there!

Hi! I'm new here, this is the one tribe I joined that wasn't like, political or artistic. Baths are therapy for me in more ways than one, and I'm so happy that this tribe is here.

I concur with the glass ceiling and I've often thought it would be marvelous to soak in warm water under the sky and watch falling stars all night.

However, I have taken baths and showers (though the experience is quite different) in complete darkness. I'm not sure when I took to this ritual but I know it was at a time that I was in need for some major healing.

I can't explain it, but taking a long bath in the dark, no candles, I mean complete darkness (it helps to put a towel under the door). Its an immediate entry into that space of solace and if you are comfortable with your inner self, be warned, it will bring emotions to surface, but if you are comfortable enough to listen to that inner voice, and to be soothed by the sound of the water, which you will definately hear like you haven't noticed before, its well worth it.

The first time I did this, I didn't use any bubbles, just water, and I can remember the tears just pouring, at first (recall I did this as healing ritual) but then, this soothing calm came over me and I swear its like, being at that state of birth or something, before all the crap of life invades if that make sany sense. It also was such a revealing time because for some reason, all the externals are gone and it was the moment I made peace and acceptance of me, like I said, something about being in water in complete darkeness, brings emotions to the surface.

That was years ago, but I still find those times where I just need to reconnect with the inner girl-woman and see her in that soul mirror image and embrace her, tell her everything will be o.k., or there are those times I just need to reconnect with myself, get centered, find that true inner voice and be at peace...

for those who work in creative fields or who need to rely on inner strength to stay on line with values (I work in activism, on many negative issues that can take their toll on me if I'm not careful) a bath in the dark is sure fire way to get back to base.

AS for the shower, I've done that too, in the dark, all I can say is that its a raw and naked, no pun intended lol, but meaning emotional and mental experience, and I find that it helps me to clear my thoughts when life just gets too demanding or I'm being pulled in too many directions.

One note of advice however, make sure you can find your way in the dark, both water experiences can be somewhat disorienting, so like, uh, its not the time to like try those water gymnastics or speeding to answer a phone call or something, lol.

Never heard of Lush before, will have to give that a try, the bath bombs in the dark, that might be something worth sharing. Don't think we have a Lush store here however I'll be on the lookout.

Have you ever seen that movie "Shine" where he sits in the bathtub, runs the water alot, and the one time his music sheets were in the tub? Don't know why I just thought of this, but I think a symphony with that glass ceiling would be awesome!

Another bath fantasy (elaborates on the sky-watching and footed tub images):

                        Roomy Victorian-footed porcelain bath tub

                        sparkling-clean white

covered in freshly cut calla lillies and orchids

vanilla and freesia scented candles surrounding the tub

view of the night sky and Orion above you

vanilla, and freesia scented oils in the water along with frothy, delicious bubble bath

a milk bath recipe in the water too

early music accapella choral polyphony or native american flute music softly playing in the background

2 extra large, fluffy white heated towels waiting so not a second of cold touches you when you get out of the tub
